Two students from the Summer Intensive will be chosen to participate in a Gala Performance at the prestigious Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow!*
The Bolshoi Ballet Academy has been preparing principal dancers for the stage since 1773 and continues to earn the highest honors in the international dance world. The Bolshoi Ballet recently won a prestigious Critic's Circle National Dance Award for Best Foreign Company of 2007, while Bolshoi Ballet soloist and recent Academy graduate Natalia Osipova, a student of Marina Leonova, was awarded the Richard Sherrington Award for Best Female Dancer of 2007.
The Russian American Foundation and Moscow's Bolshoi Ballet Academy are proud to present the 2nd Annual New York Summer Intensive for pre-professional dancers of all levels. The five-week Intensive session will be available from June 30 - August 1, 2008, a three-week session will be from June 30 - July 18 and weekly enrollment options are available.
Students have the option to commute or enroll in an overnight camp at the Westover School in Middlebury, CT. The program considers participation of female and male students. Duets are encouraged to apply.
Famous for its pedagogy, The Academy has an especially strong international reputation for providing the very best training in classical technique, artistic expression, musicality, partnering and men's technique. The intensive training sessions are based on the world-renowned Bolshoi Ballet methods and the pedagogy is supervised by the Dean of the Academy, Marina Leonova. Master Teachers will come exclusively from Moscow to instruct students in Classical Ballet, Repertoire, Pointe, Variations, Character Dance and Historical Dance.
